This sounds so silly, but I know (personally!) more than one person with permanent nerve damage from avocados. I’m talking excessive bleeding, ER visit, stitches, and life-long damage. Why? Avocados and pairing knives. It happens. A LOT! CBS wrote an article about it in 2017.

I respectfully request that you consider cutting avocados with the nick and peel method.
Step 1. Wash your avocado. Cutting through a dirty peel can introduce bacteria (or even listeria!) to the fruit inside.
Step 2. Slice completely through the avocado, all the way to the pit, and then slice again at a 90 degree angle.
Step 3. Peel the fruit open. Discard the skin.
Step 4. Check for overripe spots and trim them away.
Step. 5 Continue to cut slices or even cubes against the pit.
Step 6. Pry the slices carefully off the pit.
Step 7. Enjoy your healthy, keto meal without any trips to the ER!
